Concept

Investigating Neurological and Psychiatric Disorders with fMRI

Because functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is sensitive to changes in neural activity, it can be used to observe variations in mood and investigate the differences between a healthy brain and a diseased brain. For example, fMRI techniques help researchers study structural and functional changes in individuals with Alzheimer's disease, depression, schizophrenia, autism, and other neurological or psychiatric disorders.
