Isolated (Idiopathic) Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Behavior Disorder
Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder is categorized as isolated (idiopathic) when the condition arises spontaneously without a primary cause. Individuals with this type of disorder develop a neurodegenerative disease, such as Lewy body dementia, multiple system atrophy, or Parkinson’s disease within ten to fifteen years of diagnosis.
