Isolating the Purchasing Power Effect

When the price of a good decreases, a consumer's purchasing behavior changes for two primary reasons. One reason is that the good becomes cheaper relative to other goods. The other reason is related to the change in the consumer's overall purchasing power. Describe in your own words only the second of these reasons: how does the change in overall purchasing power influence the quantity of the good the consumer decides to buy?
