Jami's Condemnation of the Unworthy Child and the Example of Noah's Son
In Section 23 of Haft Awrang, Jami distinguishes a virtuous child, whose conduct honors their origin, from an ill-natured child whose corrupt disposition breaks the meaningful bond of kinship. He invokes Noah's son and the divine declaration He is not of your family to show that moral and spiritual character can outweigh biological descent. The poem consequently urges the reader to seek not merely a child, but a worthy child whose behavior will not turn parental hope into a wish for deliverance from harm.
