In the epilogue of Leyli u Majnun (Section 58 of Haft Awrang), Jami addresses himself and celebrates the poem he has just finished. Although the poet's own condition is as bitter as the sea (talkhkami), he declares that this single draught is enough for him, since from the waves of his meaning a vessel (safina) has been cast up from his breast onto the shore.

Jami then exalts the completed book through a chain of metaphors: it is more blessed than Noah's ark, a source of peace for the heart and tranquility (sakina) for the soul; a fresh fruit of the garden of life and the capital of eternal delight; the spell of Babylon's enchanters and the tale of devoted, heart-lost lovers; a fair story of the broken-hearted and a fresh subtlety from the tongue of the mute. The section thus performs the conventional epilogue gesture of transmuting the finished work into a sacred, life-giving object while reflecting on the poet's own labor and thirst.
