Justifying the Optimal Choice

A student is making a decision about how to allocate their time between studying (which leads to a higher final grade) and free time. This trade-off can be visualized with a 'feasible frontier' showing all possible combinations of grades and free time, and a set of 'indifference curves' representing the student's preferences. Explain in detail why the student's best possible choice is the point where one of their indifference curves is just touching (is tangent to) the feasible frontier. In your explanation, also describe what would be true of any point inside the frontier, and any point where an indifference curve crosses the frontier rather than just touching it.
