Karl Marx

Karl Marx (1818-1883) was a German philosopher and economist who provided a foundational critique of capitalism. He argued that the employment relationship is not a simple, free exchange between equals, as it might appear in a goods market. Instead, he characterized it as a relationship defined by a power imbalance, where employers exercise authority over workers, making the labor market fundamentally distinct from other economic transactions.
