In this type of English lavender, inflorescences are short and thick, having relatively fewer flowers. Blooms appear at the top of long stems and will look like violet purple plump plumes high above the foliage.  
This type blooms once in early to mid-summer, but if the spent flowers are pruned early enough, it may blossom again later in the season.

L.A. ‘Thumbelina Leigh’ charachteristics

This type of English lavender has classical dark purple flowers. It has generous and thick blooms. The inflorescences are typical for an English lavender, but ‘Folgate’ will grow loads of them. It blooms mid to late spring; if you cut the dry flowers early enough, it may give you a second blossom in early summer too.

- It can grow between 2 to 3 feet in both heights and spread (60 to 90 cm).
- Better to be planted between 30 to 36 inches apart (75 to 90 cm).

L.A. ‘Folgate’ charachteristics

Blossoms in his type of English lavender are white and some light magenta and they mix in the inflorescences. It will bloom in late spring, but it can have a second and even third blooming season in early and late summer if wilted flowers are pruned early enough.

- It can grow between 1 to 2 feet tall (30 to 60 cm) and 2 to 3 feet in spread (60 to 90 cm).

L.A. ‘Little Lottie’ charachteristics

Spikes in this type of English lavender have an upright pattern and they can be 4 inches long (10 cm). Blossoms are long-lasting and dark navy blue to dark violet in color. This type will bloom in late spring, usually once only, but if flowers after each bloom are trimmed it may bloom again.
- It can grow between 2 and 3 feet in height and spread (60 to 90 cm).
- Better to be planted 30 to 36 inches apart (75 to 90 cm).

L.A. ‘Royal Velvet’ characteristics

This type of English lavender has white blooms. It will bloom in mid to late summer and only once. As its name indicates this type is dwarf and can also be grown in pots easily. This type has the most relaxing scent.
- It can grow between 10 and 12 inches tall (25 to 30 cm) and 1 to 2 feet in spread (30 to 60 cm).
- Better to be planted 12 and 16 inches apart (30 to 40 cm).

L.A. ‘Alba Nana’ characteristics

This type blooms once only from late spring to early or mid-summer. It has packed habit and very well-defined flowers with five prominent petals. Bloom's color has a shade of a light rosy purple.
- It can grow between 1 and 2 feet tall (30 to 60 cm) and 2 to 3 feet in spread (30 to 60 cm).
- Better to be planted between 24 and 30 inches apart (60 to 75 cm).

This type blooms once only from late spring to early summer. As its name indicates blooms have pale pink color(sometimes off-white). This type is one of the most generous bloomers of the whole lavender genus.

L.A. ‘Rosea’ characteristics

‘Hidcote’ is one of the most popular English lavender types. It has long-lasting blooms of dark purple flowers with a specific and very strong scent. In contrast to other types, it will bloom profusely but only once, from late spring into the early summer.
- It can grow 1 to 2 feet in height and spread (30 to 60 cm),
- Better to be planted 18 to 24 inches apart (45 to 60 cm).
