1994 Labor Dispute at Firestone's Decatur Plant

In 1994, the Firestone plant in Decatur, Illinois, became the site of a major labor conflict. On July 12, the United Rubber Workers union initiated a strike in response to management-imposed changes to working hours and compensation. The company countered by hiring replacement workers, and the strike concluded ten months later with returning employees agreeing to significant concessions, which led to ongoing resentment.
