Based on the Guidance made by U.S. Department of Health & Human Services in 2022,  "Long COVID" can be referred as the post COVID-19 symptoms that last for weeks, months or years :
- a physical impairment including any physiological disorder or condition affecting one, or more body systems 
- a mental impairment including any mental or psychological disorder such as an emotional or mental illness.

 Long COVID experience examples

People whose long COVID qualifies as a disability are entitled to the same protections from discrimination as any other person with a disability under the ADA, Section 504, and Section 1557. They are entitled to full and equal opportunities to participate in and enjoy all aspects of civic and commercial life. 

Rights for Long COVID Patients

- Experiencing shortness of breath, fatigue, and related effects caused by damage in repiratory systems;
- Experiencing limited gastrointestinal function causing intestinal pain, vomiting, and nausea that have lingered for months 
- Experiencing headaches, dizziness, memory lapses and mental health conditions. “brain fog” that can substantially limit brain function, concentrating, and thinking. 
- Experiencing stuffy nose, loss of taste/smell or distorted sense of taste/smell
