In Section 5 of the Leyli u Majnun within Jami's Haft Awrang, the poet frames ishq (love) as the primal force behind all creation and existence.

Love and Creation

At the dawn of eternity, love kindled the fire of longing in the divine pen, which raised itself from the tablet of nonexistence (لوح عدم) and traced a hundred wondrous forms. Creation itself is thus presented as an act of love.

Cosmic Love

The heavens are described as born of love (افلاک زاده عشق) and the elements as fallen to earth through love. Without love there is no trace of good or bad, and whatever is not from love is itself nothing (چیزی که ز عشق نیست خود نیست) — the turning blue vault of the sky moves by its power.

The Magnet as Emblem of Love

Jami likens love to the magnetism latent in stone that grips hard iron, using the mutual attraction of magnet and iron as a natural proof of the irresistible drawing-power (jazba) that love exerts on the hearts of the afflicted lovers.
