Magnetosomes

Magnetosomes are cytoplasmic inclusions found in magnetotactic bacteria, such as Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum. They consist of magnetic iron oxide or iron sulfide surrounded by a lipid layer, which allows the cells to align along a magnetic field to aid their movement.
