Major Depression Disorder with Melancholic Features

The patient is diagnosed with major depression disorder with melancholic features if they display one or more of the following symptoms.

  • Waking up earlier than wanted.
  • The patient’s mood is at its worst in the mornings.
  • Excessive feelings of guilt.
  • Decreased appetite or weight loss.
  • Agitation or retardation of psychomotor functioning.
  • The patient’s mood does not improve in reaction to positive events.
