غارت صد قافله دل کند
چون کند از قافیه خلخال پای 
پای خردمند بلغزد ز جای

رخنه شود قبله پیر و جوان
معنی رنگین چو کشد غازه اش 
باغ شود دل ز گل تازه اش
من که ز هر شاهد و می زاهدم 
عمر تلف کرده این شاهدم
عقد حمایل که به بر جلوه داد 
عقده صبر از رگ جانم گشاد
دل که گرانمایه ز اقبال اوست 
طوق کش حلقه خلخال اوست
ابروی او گرچه نه پیوسته است 
راه خلاصی به رخم بسته است

روز و شب آواره کوی ویم 
شام و سحر در تک و پوی ویم
شب که مرا دل سوی او رهبر است 
کرسیم از زانوی و پای از سر است
از مدد همت والای خویش

باز کشم پای ز دامان فرش 
سر بدر آرم ز گریبان عرش
جامه جسم از تن جان برکشم 
خامه نسیان به جهان در کشم

نقل ز خوان ملکوتم نهند

مطربم آواز پر جبرئیل

بهره چو برگیرم ازان بزمگاه

Oh you, whose fame of the drum of speech is filled,
The bride of speech is the beloved of souls.
A wondrous bride who, even when empty of ornament,
Brings forth charm and captures hearts.
When she is adorned with ornaments,
She casts taunts at the full moon.
When she wears the necklace of organized gems,
She plunders the hearts of a hundred caravans.
When she makes ankles-ring of rhyme,
The foot of the wise slips from its place.
When she makes eyebrows out of two hemistichs,
She breaches the direction of prayer of both old and young.
When colorful meaning draws her rouge,
The heart becomes a garden from her fresh rose.
I, who am an ascetic toward every beloved and wine,
Have spent my life in devotion to this beloved.
The knot of the necklace that she displayed on her bosom,
Untied the knot of patience from the veins of my soul.
The heart, which is precious by her fortune,
Is the collar-wearer of the ring of her anklet.
Though her eyebrow is not joined,
She has blocked my path to escape.
The stylist who began her adornment,
Made her rouge from the blood of my liver.
Day and night, I am a wanderer in her alley,
Evening and morning, I am running and searching after her.
At night, when my heart leads me toward her,
My chair is made of my knees, and my feet are made of my head.
With the help of my high resolve,
When I place my foot upon my chair,
I pull my foot back from the hem of the carpet of earth,
And stick my head out of the collar of the supreme Throne.
I strip the garment of the body from the soul,
And draw the pen of forgetfulness over the world.
Nay, I even become detached from the soul itself,
And become a drinker of the eternal wine.
They give me wine from the cup of power,
And place delicacies before me from the angelic table.
The cupbearer of the flowing stream gives me Salsabil,
And my musician is the sound of Gabriel's wings.
Cupbearer and musician combined together,
The delicacies of meanings scattered everywhere.
When I take my share from that banquet,
I resolve on the path of return.
Whatever my hand receives from that pure table,
I gather as gifts for my earthly companions.
