Measures for Motivational Interviewing

  1. Sociodemographics: Self-report demographic questionnaire
  2. Screening and Substance Use Diagnosis: The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test-C was utilized to determine the eligibility of participants before being in the study. The Composite International Diagnostic Instrument, Substance Abuse Module (CIDI-SAM) was also used to analyze the exclusion criteria for substance dependence.
  3. Psychiatric and cognitive impairment exclusion criteria: The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV, Psychotic Screening and Mood Disorders sections, and the Mini-Mental Status Examination were utilized. They aided in identifying any psychiatric symptoms and intellectual disabilities.
  4. Alcohol and drug use problems: The ADS evaluates the severity of alcohol dependence.
  5. Motivation to reduce drinking: The Readiness to Change Questionnaire was provided, where participants focused on their readiness to change behaviors and how committed participants were to not drinking excessively
  6. Drinking Outcomes: The TLFB and the EMA were used to study the amount of drinking done before and during the time treatment was being given.
