According to a 1997 study done with Stuve et al, eye tracking measurements are abnormal in those with schizophrenia. Specifically, these individuals used rapid and jerky movements to follow a moving target instead of smooth ones. 

This finding suggests that schizophrenia may have an associated endophenotype.

Results of Studies on Behavioral Distinctions of Those with Schizophrenia

Various neuropsychological tests are used to objectively measure behavioral distinctions. An example of this is using eye-tracking measurements.

The measurements are done by recording eye movements while the person's gaze follows a follows a moving target on a computer screen

According to E. Fuller Torrey in his 1994 study, the twin that goes on to develop schizophrenia was the one who was "abnormal" throughout life. Here are some distinctions made:

- Symptomatic twin frequently weighed less at birth

- Symptomatic twin had early development history that included more instances of physiological distress

- Symptomatic twin was more submissive, tearful, and sensitive than other twin and viewed as more vulnerable by parents

- Impaired motor coordination

In a 1991 study by Elaine Walker, these differences can be seen even by watching home videos of children.
