Memory Consolidation after an Accident

A cyclist is involved in a traffic accident and sustains a mild concussion. In the hospital, they can clearly recall their name, address, and events from the previous week. However, they have no memory of the morning of the accident, including their breakfast or the start of their bike ride. Based on the two levels of memory consolidation, explain why the cyclist's memory loss is limited to the hours just before the accident.
