Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 is a U.S. federal law designed to eliminate historical disparities in insurance coverage for mental health care. It requires group health plans to ensure that financial obligations, such as co-pays and deductibles, and treatment limits, like the number of visits, for mental health and substance use services are no more restrictive than those for medical and surgical services.
