Meritocratic Firm Leadership

For a capitalist economy to be dynamic, firms must be led by individuals with proven ability and competence rather than connections or inheritance. Because a firm owner's elite status is not secure by birthright, leaders who mismanage a firm's resources risk bankruptcy and the loss of their position, creating ongoing pressure to select and retain leadership based on merit. This merit-based selection helps firms innovate, compete, and operate efficiently, driving overall economic dynamism.
