Mischel's View of People as Situation Processors

Walter Mischel proposed that individuals act as 'situation processors,' meaning their behavior is guided by their cognitive interpretation of a situation rather than by the situation itself. This approach to personality emphasizes the dynamic interaction between the context and a person's unique perception. For example, in the marshmallow test, children's decisions were based on how they individually processed and interpreted the reward structure of the scenario.
