A moderated usability test is another usability technique in which the UX researcher or moderator is actively engaged with the participant in real-time as they carry out the given tasks. Unlike unmoderated usability tests, moderated usability tests requires the moderator to be present throughout the session.

There are different types of usability testing you can conduct, based on how much time and resources that you have: 
- Nano-Usability Test
- Micro-Usability Test
- Moderated Usability Test
- Unmoderated Usability Test

A nano-sized version of a guerilla usability test. One of the quickest ways to gain feedback and evaluate your interface. 

Nano-Usability Testing

A more full-fledged usability evaluation that involves more time and effort.

Micro-Usability Testing

Usability tests are structured interviews focused on specific feature in an interface prototype

Usability Tests

In an unmoderated usability test, you create the tasks and questions ahead of time and participants participate in their own time. Participants will share their screen as they perform the usability tasks. Keep in mind that a moderator will not be present in this type of usability test and the participant will be left to carry out the tasks on their own. This is usually done remotely.
