Activity (Process)

Multiplication of Rational Functions

To multiply two rational functions, multiply their defining rational expressions together. The process is identical to the multiplication of rational expressions: multiply the numerator polynomials together to form the new numerator, and multiply the denominator polynomials together to form the new denominator. The resulting rational expression represents the product function, and it should typically be simplified by factoring and dividing out common polynomial factors.
