Neuropsychologists have been interested in researching the cognitive involvement in brain tumors. The increase of the understanding led to the ability of performing awake surgeries. 

In this study it was shown that certain invasive brain treatments does have an impact on the cognitive abilities of patients. It was shown that invasive treatments decrease cognitive abilities.
