The Müller-Lyer illusion is a visual phenomenon where two lines of identical length appear to be different lengths due to V-shaped fins attached to their ends. A line with inward-pointing fins is perceived as shorter than a line with outward-pointing fins. This illusion is a key example in the study of perception, and susceptibility to it has been shown to vary across cultures, with individuals from Western cultures often being more prone to experiencing it.

Imagine you are a consultant for a new tech company that wants its logo to appear three-dimensional, even though it will be printed on a flat surface. Based on your understanding of how the visual system processes images, propose and justify two distinct techniques the designer could use to create this illusion of depth. For each technique, explain the specific perceptual principle at play and why it would be effective in tricking the brain into seeing depth where there is none.
