a. Collect an initial small sample of data

b. Start to construct a theory of the domain immediately (The theory will be wrong in some respects because it is based on insufficient data.)

c. Analysis of incomplete theory, and determines its weakest point (a research strategy known as abduction)

d. The weakest point becomes the focus for the next small sample of data.

e. Test the theory with the intent of learning how it fails at its weakest point, and make a stronger theory based on that failure
