- Time from publication to retraction may vary by a lot so attention indicated by alternative metrics may not be an accurate representation of why the publication was retracted
- Due to the limited information provided by Altmetrics, several factors were combined to create more indicative predictors – i.e. combining tweets of different purposes (scientific, citation, and retweets)
- Inconsistent Altmetric data across different platforms because there is no standard
- Differences between fields of study not considered
