Definition of Outflow (Systems)

In systems thinking, an outflow is a flow that decreases the level of a stock over time. For instance, the natural decay of atmospheric CO2\text{CO}_2 and its absorption by natural sinks, such as forests, are outflows that reduce the total stock of this gas.
