Owner-Supplied Equipment Responsibility Clause

If the homeowner supplies the fixture, fan, or other device, the scope document should say the contractor is not liable for manufacturing defects, fit or compatibility problems, or the effort needed to return the item. The purpose is to avoid warranty follow-up on equipment the contractor did not choose, inspect, or buy. It also makes clear that if the provided item is defective when installation begins, the job may still require an additional service charge.
