Pareto-Efficient Allocation for Min's Music

The Pareto-efficient outcome for the 'Min's Music' radio program, as indicated by Figure 10.7, is an audience of 10,000 listeners. This level is optimal because it includes all individuals with a positive willingness to pay. An audience smaller than this, for instance 8,000, would be inefficient as 2,000 people who would benefit are excluded at no extra cost. Conversely, an audience larger than this, such as 12,000, is also inefficient because it includes 2,000 listeners who derive negative value from the program and would be better off not listening.
