- Diagnosed with multiple myeloma on May 12, 2015
- Received 2 cycles of induction chemotherapy comprising of bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone, which caused his symptoms to disappear
- Refused further bortezomib-based treatment and only took thalidomide for maintenance
