In Attar's Sufi philosophy, the realization of 'Essential Existence' (Wujud-e Asl) is contingent upon the seeker's perception of both worlds as total non-existence ('adam). By consciously devaluing the joys and kingdoms of the material and spiritual realms as grief or granted illusions, the seeker removes the veil of duality, allowing the Divine light to shine upon them.
