Active Person-Environment Transactions occur when individuals actively seek out situations that are compatible with their personality and avoid situations that are not. 

Example: An outgoing/extraverted person may seek out friends who enjoy going out and partying. 

Active Person-Environment Transaction

Reactive Person-Environment Transaction explains how people with different personalities react differently to the same situation. 

Example: An introvert may feel bored or out of place at a party, whereas an extrovert would enjoy that situation. 

Reactive Person-Environment Transaction

Evocative Person-Environment Transaction is the process of people changing the situation through their behaviors. 

Example: Someone who does well in school encourages their study group to get to work instead of continuing to take breaks. 

Evocative Person-Environment Transaction

The person-environment transaction explains how people respond to and seek out situations that align with their personality traits. The three types of transactions are active, reactive and evocative.
