- Microtasks are grouped and displayed to the user as a set of action tiles, and each tile represents a different set of microtasks.
- To complete a task, the user selects a tile, and each tile is either time-bound or category-bound.
- By making the use of time explicit through the interactions, the users are made aware of how they are able to use their micro-moments.
- The home screen provides ambient awareness of category completion by varying the color and intensity of the tiles.

Play Write: Play Write Editing Home Screen

- Fix spelling - spelling errors in the document are extracted and presented with alternative suggestions.
- Identify wordy sentences - sentences over a fixed length are marked as possible too verbose.
- Delete words - a sentence that was marked as being too verbose is then sent to a language processing system where parts of the sentence are marked  as candidates for deletion.
- Accept or reject a change - this task shows pending changes created using change tracking for a document.
- Classify comments - comments are shown as individual tasks where users can either acknowledge or delete them, or indicate that it requires a response which spawns a new microtask.
- Reply to a comment - if the user selects the reply option for the classify comments task, a new task is created where they can write a response.

Play Write: Play Write Editing Tasks

- The Play Write app is the core of the microtasking experience.
- The server pushes notifications to the app to alert the user when new tasks become available.

Boston College

- First, users create Play Write microtasks from an existing Microsoft Word document by clicking a specific button from a Word plugin.
- The button has the plugin extract text from the document that can be edited.
- An engine then looks through the extracted text to creator microtasks on how to improve that section, which then notifies the phone user that they have new tasks available.
- Based on feedback from the previous section’s study, Play Write exposes the following microtasks on the mobile app: fixing spelling errors, identifying wordy sentences, simplifying text by deleting words, accepting or rejecting changes, and addressing comments.

The plugin adds three buttons to the desktop Word toolbar:
- Go Mobile - the plugin scans the text to find editable sections and uploads the editable sections to the Play Write mobile application.
- Get Changes - the plugin processes the suggested edits that the user completed on their mobile device and uploads the changes to the desktop document.
- Clear Tasks - clears available tasks.
