Playful work design proposes applying play to tasks instead of changing the job role in any way. Instead, it changes how employees are involved in their tasks.

Playful work design is needed because it gives employees a sense of independence of their own tasks and the sense that employees are part of something that is important and by making the play challenging it also gives employees goals of reaching their accomplishments.
