Policy Effectiveness on Equilibrium Unemployment

An economy is in a stable, long-run equilibrium with a persistent level of involuntary unemployment. A politician proposes a large increase in government spending to boost overall demand and eliminate this unemployment. Explain why this policy is unlikely to be successful in permanently lowering the equilibrium rate of involuntary unemployment.
