Positive Affect as a Protective Factor Against Heart Disease
Positive affect can function as a protective element against the development of heart disease. Supporting this, a 10-year study conducted on Nova Scotians found that for each one-point increase on a five-point scale of positive affect, the rate of heart disease was 22% lower.
