Evidence suggests that damage to the left hemisphere of the brain may result in both apraxia and aphasia. Specifically, damage to the dorsal and ventral streams often result in both apraxia and aphasia.

Despite the fact that there are no accurate numbers detailing how many post-stroke individuals have apraxia, there are some studies that show that post-stroke aphasia and post-stroke apraxia commonly occur together.
