Participants were women greater than 18 years with a spouse and no cognitive dysfunction, who had a full term  pregnancy (gestation greater than 37 weeks) within the past year and had a healthy baby. Measured affective scores and spousal support.

Positive affect decreases following delivery then increases as per US study.
Maternal role development correlates negatively with maternal distress.
Study in Japan showed if there is no support from their spouse, they are still at risk for postpartum depression, even with support from their family.
