Case Study

Predicting Behavior in Economic Games

An economic experiment is conducted in two different communities. In the experiment, one person (the 'Proposer') is given $100 and must offer a portion to a second person (the 'Responder'). If the Responder accepts the offer, the money is split as proposed. If the Responder rejects the offer, neither person receives any money. Based on the community descriptions below, in which community would you predict a higher rejection rate for a low offer (e.g., $10 out of $100)? Justify your reasoning.
