Prevalence of Unfinished Houses in Developing Economies

In many poorer countries, the sight of unfinished houses is extremely common. This phenomenon is a direct result of households using incremental construction as a primary investment and savings strategy, especially when they lack access to formal financing like mortgages. Families build their homes piece by piece over many years, as and when they can afford to buy materials.
