Limitations of the Ana and Luis Discrimination Model

The Ana and Luis discrimination model provides only a partial explanation for the gender division of labor. Its core assumption—that households ensure an equal distribution of total work hours and consumption between partners—conflicts with real-world data. This assumption makes the model incapable of explaining the common phenomenon where women's total work hours (paid and unpaid combined) exceed men's.
