Progression Through Kohlberg's Stages of Moral Development

Kohlberg's theory posits that moral development follows a specific sequence. An individual typically moves from pre-conventional morality (before age 9) to conventional morality (in early adolescence). The progression culminates in post-conventional morality, a stage linked to the achievement of formal operational thought, which is reached by only a few individuals.
