Prompting for a Reasoning Process to Mitigate Errors in Complex Tasks

Large Language Models are prone to errors when attempting to solve complex problems, such as mathematical tasks, by generating a direct answer. To mitigate this, a common and effective technique is to explicitly instruct the model to follow and articulate a reasoning process before arriving at a final conclusion. This approach prompts the model to construct a logical pathway to the solution, which improves its performance and reliability.
