Mesophiles exist best in moderate temperatures from about 20°C-45°C or from around room temperature to the temperature of the human body. *E Coli.* and  *Salmonella* spp. are two common examples of mesophiles.

Thermophiles grow at high temperatures of about 50°C-80°C, which is above room temperature and found in places like hot springs.

Hyperthermophiles have extremely high optimal growth temperatures of about 80°C-110°C. Some hyperthermophiles can even survive temperatures above 121°C, which is the temperature of an autoclave.
