Pygmalion in The Classroom- IQ's Measured

- Interested in the different "tracks" and the degree of expectancy advantage within those tracks (slow, medium, or fast track)
- In one year or less, if greater expectancy advantage is seen in some individuals, then would expectancy advantages also be greater for:
	○ "Children in the lower grades or higher grades?"
	○ "Children in the fast track, or medium track, or slow track?"
	○ "Children of one sex rather than the other?"
	○ "Children of minority group or nonminority group status?"


University of Georgia

- Experiment done in 1965
- Public elementary school
- Teachers were told that certain children were "growth spurters" based on results from the Harvard Test of Inflected Acquisition
- The children who were "growth spurters" were randomly assigned
- Wanted to see if there were changes in student achievement due to teacher expectation, over a period of one year
- Tested IQ at the beginning and end of experiment
