Racial Differences in Trauma Exposure

There are notable racial disparities in exposure to certain traumatic events. Assaultive violence and witnessing trauma to others are more prevalent among non-White individuals compared to White individuals. Specifically, African American males have a higher likelihood of being exposed to and victimized by violence than males of other races.
