Racial/Ethnic Differences in Stress Trends (1983-2009)

National surveys from 1983 to 2009 show varying stress trends among racial and ethnic groups. White individuals experienced a steady increase in stress over the period. Black individuals' stress levels rose from 1983 to 2006 and then slightly decreased. Hispanic individuals showed a consistent and significant increase in stress across all three surveys, reaching a score of 17 by 2009. The 'Other' category saw a sharp rise in stress from 1983 to 2006, after which it remained stable at a high level.
