Rational but Opposite: Explaining Worker Responses to a Pay Raise

Imagine a company gives all its employees a significant hourly wage increase. Subsequently, Employee A reduces their weekly work hours to enjoy more free time, while Employee B increases their weekly work hours to earn much more money. Both employees consider their new arrangement an improvement over their situation before the raise. Explain, in detail, how both of these seemingly opposite decisions can be considered rational choices. Your explanation should describe the two competing incentives created by a higher wage and how an individual's personal valuation of income versus free time determines their final decision.
