Results of Schachter and Singer's Epinephrine Experiment

The experiment's findings revealed that participants who were not given an explanation for the physiological arousal caused by the epinephrine injection were more inclined to report emotions of euphoria or anger that matched the behavior of a confederate. Conversely, participants who were informed about the injection's side effects did not report significant emotional changes. This outcome suggests that when individuals experience physiological arousal without a clear cause, they rely on their immediate environment to label the arousal, which in turn shapes their emotional experience.
