Role of Culture in Perception

The collective experiences shared by people within a specific cultural setting can significantly influence how they perceive the world. This extends beyond vision, as research has shown that cultural factors also affect other senses. For example, the ability to identify an odor, and to rate its pleasantness and intensity, has been found to vary cross-culturally.
